Help us raise money for a great cause!
Hello everyone! It’s Catherine. When I founded Jurassic Creative I wanted to ensure it wasn’t just a business but also a force for good in the Dorset community.
So, I decided I would attempt one event a year to try and raise money for a charity I truly believe in which brings a real benefit to people in Dorset.
In my former career as a journalist, I had the pleasure of working with People First Dorset and the Dorset Friendship Club on a number of occasions. This led to helping set up the first newspaper column in the UK written by people with learning disabilities. If you haven’t already, please check out the Our View column in the Dorset Echo each week. It’s always funny and insightful!
The Dorset Friendship Club is just that – a club for people with learning disabilities to meet and make friends. They do some fantastic events including discos, cinema trips, meals out and trips to comedy shows. It is just one of the services provided by People First Dorset.
This wonderful cause is my chosen charity of the year and I want to try and raise as much as I can for Dorset Friendship Club.
However, I believe that if I’m going to ask you to put your hand in your pocket for sponsorship, I am going to have to put in some hard work. So, I have signed up to Bournemouth Half Marathon on October 8. I’m certainly not what you would call a natural runner – I’m more of a determined plodder really. The longest race I have ever run is the 5k Race for Life, so training will be tough. This race is 13.1 miles, and I would love to raise £260 – or just £20 a mile!
So please, help me though the inevitable blood, sweat and tears of training by sponsoring this fantastic and life-changing club. (I promise updates on my Local Giving page, probably filled with the horrors of training, so apologies in advance.)
Thank you in advance for your support and wish me luck. (I’m going to need it.) You can donate on my Local Giving page here.
